About DebtExitMap
DebtExitMap started with a simple idea: getting out of debt shouldn’t require a finance degree.
Most debt advice online is either too vague to act on (“just spend less”) or written for people who already understand APRs, credit utilization, and amortization schedules. We built DebtExitMap for everyone else — the person staring at a stack of bills, unsure which one to tackle first.
Every article here is written to be read by someone in the middle of a stressful financial moment: practical steps, plain language, no jargon left unexplained.
What we cover
- Debt payoff strategies (snowball, avalanche, consolidation, settlement)
- Budgeting methods that actually stick
- Credit score and credit report basics
- How to deal with collectors and creditors
- Comparisons of consolidation loans, balance transfer cards, and relief services
Our approach
We research every claim against primary sources — the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), FTC guidance, and the credit bureaus themselves — rather than repeating advice we’ve seen elsewhere. Where we recommend a specific product or service, we explain why, and we disclose when we earn a commission (see our editorial policy below).
We are not financial advisors, credit counselors, or attorneys. DebtExitMap is an educational resource, not a substitute for personalized professional advice — see our full disclaimer.
Hi, I’m Seema Dhaka. I’ve been a professional content writer for 9 years, specializing in research-driven, reader-first writing. I built DebtExitMap to bring that same standard of clear, no-jargon explanation to personal finance — a space where most advice online is either too vague to act on or written for people who already understand the terminology. Every article on this site is something I’ve researched against primary sources (CFPB, FTC, and credit bureau guidance) before publishing.
